This page is about the 2009 Spring ITEC technology fair.
| On Tuesday, April 14th, after
packing a couple computers, we started the trip for Ames, Iowa at 5:00
A.M. The group consisted of Mr. Grebin, Taylor Fiscus (the one
typing this), Alex Hamilton, Matt Osher, Matt Pruss, and Jake Snow.
The drive there took roughly three hours... a long three hours. By
the time we had made it there the sun was up and we had to get
moving. We entered Iowa State college and registered for the technology
fair and picked a spot to land the computers (gently). It was
fortunate that we had set up before the other schools had came in or
we wouldn't have such a nice spot or have time to fix one of the
projects (The PowerPoint Game project had some problems.). After a
quick break involving wandering around the college and marveling at
the Subway they had in their lunchroom, we headed back. Many more
projects and their creators had sprung up while we had been gone;
here are some pictures that Mr. Grebin had taken of those projects:
Matt Pruss, Michael Hamilton, and Jake Snow presented their "Green Giant" project and Matt Osher and I presented our PowerPoint Games project. After presenting, the other guys wandered around and I let people play the PowerPoint game. The projects at the ITEC technology fair were very varied; children and teenagers presented all sorts of things. Matt Osher and I were a little surprised to find a project that was very similar to our PowerPoint Game... but the creator wasn't as far along on the project. When the technology fair was about to come to a close, the judges handed out ribbons. The "Green Giant" project received a red ribbon, PowerPoint Games project received a blue ribbon, and Stanton Community School received a purple ribbon. We then got our pictures taken in front of the ITEC poster.
There aren't any more pictures on the technology fair but here is a
quick summary of what happened on the way back: |
