FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT’S DESK

FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT’S DESK

Welcome back to the 2010-2011 school year! We are looking forward to another productive and exciting school year at Stanton Community Schools. In order to promote and support a well balanced and healthy life style for our students which includes academics, fine arts, athletics, family time, church time, recreational time, homework time, personal time, etc. the Board of Education has amended several Board Policies that were already in place.

The main parts of the three policies that parents, patrons, students, coaches, teachers should know are the following:

Board Policy #504.6

Student activity events must be approved by the superintendent unless they involve unusual travel expense, in which case the superintendent will recommend to the board accordingly. The events must not disrupt the education program or other school district operations.
A 7-12 grade student who participates in school sponsored athletics may not participate in a non-school sponsored sport during the same season unless approved by the school administration, and such outside participation does not conflict with the school sponsored athletic activity and schedule of games.

Board Policy 905.3
In cooperation with the churches of the school district and to assist in facilitating their youth programs, the Stanton School District shall not have activities on Wednesday evenings after 6:30 p.m. and all day Sunday, except for unusual circumstances and with the approval of the superintendent. Grades 1-6 youth programs will be allowed after 1:00 p.m. on Sundays and adult activities after 6:00 p.m. on Sundays in the gym.

Board Policy #905.1
School district facilities and equipment will be made available to local nonprofit entities which promote cultural, educational, civic, community, or recreational activities. “Entity(ies)” shall include organizations, groups and individuals and their agents. Such use will be permitted only when the use does not interfere with or disrupt the education program or a school-related activity, the use is consistent with state law, and will end no later than midnight. It is within the discretion of the board to allow for-profit entities to use school district facilities and equipment. The board reserves the right to deny use of the facilities and equipment to an entity. It shall be within the discretion of the superintendent to allow use of school district facilities and equipment on Sundays.

Thank you for your support of our school, staff, and students. If anyone has questions, you may call the superintendent at the school at 829-2162.
